Trusting in God Scale

Monday, April 29th, 2013

There is a scale that easily measures your ability to trust in God.

For the atheists among us feel free to substitute whatever you like for the word God because whether you like it or not does not change the fact that you did not create yourself and therefore are not responsible for the end result of that creation.

It is a question of authority and the root word of authority is obviously author. So who or what is your author?

You? Your parents? Your government?

You? This one is self-evident. While you can claim some credit or blame for what happens after birth and before death, the process before the former or after the later are clearly not of your making.

Your parents? Tis true their bodies made your body.

“Child?”

Your government? Doing their best to define you. Have been for years.

“Subject?”

“Citizen?”

But who are you really?

There are only two choices. Either you are one of the above as in a child, subject or citizen or you are something else.

And what could that something else be?

A collection of chemicals and their electrical interconnections?

A spirit created by whom? Or is it Who?

The beauty of it all is this. It really does not matter what your choice or belief is.

You did not create yourself and the end result of that creation is not up to you.

So what’s the scale?

Your trust in government is inversely proportional to your trust in God.

The more you have in one means the less you have in the other.

Why is this true?

Because government and God are polar opposites.

Government is force.

God is peace.

First Amendment

Thursday, April 11th, 2013

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”

Reads better when you insert the first definition of “religion.”

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

I think it should read…

“Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of a code of morality, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”

I think it probably does have this meaning.

How many federal laws are based on some jackasses idea of morality?

Most state constitutions have a first amendment similar in effect.

How many state laws are based on some jackasses idea of morality?

Do you really think the founders were so shallow that the amendment only prevents the federal or state governments from telling you where or how to worship?

What if a government passed laws covering every moral imperative put forth by Christians (or any other religion)?

Would it not be a de facto Christian government even though the law makes no demands on where and how you worship?

Why does Obama fear an armed citizenry?

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Why does Obama fear an armed citizenry? What a dumb question. Mr. Obama fears an armed citizenry for the same reason King George, Lenin, Stalin and every other tyrant does. Harder to impose your will on someone who can shoot back.

The real question is this. What are American Christians going to do about it? Pray and vote? Talk about it a lot? Preach hell fire and brimstone to the sinners? Good luck with that!

The truth is American Christians cannot seem to get around this little paraphrase from Romans 13!

Let everyone be subject to the state and federal authorities, for there is no state and federal authority except that which God has established. The state and federal authorities that exist have been established by God.

Consequently, whoever rebels against the state and federal authorities is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

For the President of the United States, the US Congress, the United States Supreme Court and the state governments hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong.

Do you want to be free from fear of the President of the United States, the US Congress, the United States Supreme Court and the state governments? Then do what is right and you will be commended.

For these authorities are God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for the President of the United States, the US Congress, United States Supreme Court and the state governments do not bear arms for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the President of the United States, the US Congress, the United States Supreme Court and the state government, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
